WHO AM I

Ever since August 6th of 2013 my views have changed of the world. I see in a new light people and behaviors. But for myself I am still the same person. I'm still energetic, athletic, sociable, easy going, and loving. Today I can look at a person and pick their brains a part and read their minds. This skill did not just come easy, I had to pay close attention to Mr. Reints to obtain these skills. For that I thank you Mr. Reints for these amazing skills. By the way this is my last blog so YOLO.

Losers and winners

In any type of society you will need winners and losers. You will also find winners and losers in any society. Anytime in these days you will almost never find someone who is considered a "winner" without making someone a "loser" in their success. This is the reason why there will never be a Utopia society because a society will always need losers and winners. That is why a Utopia is a lost cause for any person to obtain, because only way one could create that society would to be that everyone in that society would be equal. In any society where there is free will that will never be possible cause you will always have people stepping on other people to further themselves in life.
So in any society you will always have loser and winners no matter how hard you try to avoid it. So the only thing you could come close to evening the winners and losers is for people to develop good morals and understanding of one another.

Flat tax or Flat tire

In our government and how our people view taxes, there will never be a perfect system for the government to collect taxes. When it comes to the taxes either way the government collects them someone will feel as if they are getting the short end of the stick. By this I means like the lower class may feel as if they are paying more than the rich and vice versa. The rich also may feel as if they should not have to pay more than the poor because they earned their money themselves.
I do believe that a tax of percentage at a set rate would produce the best result throughout the United States. Like having a 17% set rate would be good, because then everyone is losing the same percentage of their pay checks. This way would still cause many problems throughout United States because the rich will feel like they are giving up more of their paychecks when in reality the other classes of the class system are giving up the same percentage. Any other way you set up the tax collecting would cause just a lot more problems.
Like a set amount for every citizen because, that amount may not affect the rich as much as it would the poor because $5000 to one person may be nothing but to another it could mean if they can eat supper at night or not. So this way of the government collecting taxes would only decrease the middle class and increase the lower class and this is neither what United States wants nor needs. The United States needs a stronger middle class and we should be helping people leave the lower class into the Upper class and middle class. So a set percentage of taxes would do the United States good from my point of view.

 

Catfish

I believe that "catfish" are a necessity for people to stay alert and focused, because otherwise we would get complacent. While the term means someone who pretends to be someone else I also believe the quote they have at the movie also relates to things that motivate us to not get complacent. Like some people may have kids and their kids drive them to always get better and do better for the kids. I believe the urban dictionary word catfish means things that may drive us to get things done that we would otherwise push away and not complete.
In my life I believe that the catfish in my life is not someone but things like school academically, in sports competitively, and friends. Without these things I may get complacent and not strive to accomplish goals or even set goals for that matter. This brings me to this point, that catfish whether it is a person or an idea/thought, it causes people to set goals and always strive to be accomplished.
So yes, catfish are a necessity for people because without it/them people may not set goals for themselves or be focused.

Response

The article on how people responded to the split second the receive to determined whether the person was a hostile with a weapon. But it was found out that people responded faster to the black people while most of them didn't even have weapons at all, but the white ones didn't get shot as fast.
The article on how the Jew's were dominating the basketball world with their god given balance and speed. This was until 1950's when blacks entered the sport where then the blacks dominated to present day.
The next article was about how someone wrote an article about an Korean basketball play got acknowledge for how he was good at basketball. But the article said Korean basketball player instead of just his name. Which this relates to the stereotype that Asians are not as good as others do, such as blacks and whites.

Immigration

Now days in American there are many people complaining about not there being any jobs around for them to support them and their families.  But it is the opposite of what is happening now days, there are plenty of jobs out there for many Americans to take.  The problem is that many of these Americans do not want to do these jobs because of the fact that they want more money for these jobs.  But the immigrants will do the same work, may do it even better but they will also do it for less money too. So the fact that Americans won't to take the jobs because of the pay is their own fault.


There are plenty of aliens that take these jobs, which isnt a bad thing for the employers. But this arises a problem for when citizen of the US trying taking these jobs for more money but the employers only hire aliens because the fact that they will do the same work for less money and less benefits. So this causes a problem for the US workers finding jobs in the labor part of the work force in the US. But this is only our own fault for being greedy with the work/ pay for a job.

Blog quiz

The book "Animal Farm" is all based on psychology and sociology connection such as conflict theory and functionalist theory. The connection such as how they have the pig leader Napoleon as Joseph Stalin who slowly takes over the animal farm and does so with raising little suspicion amongst the animals.  Napoleon with the help of other fellow pigs, Mr. Frederickson (Adolf Hitler), and the dogs of which he raised from the beginning of the story which he used to over throw the competition that Snowball had against Napoleon. While many of the animals had doubts and suspicion of the pigs and dogs of the farm no one dared to go against leaders of the farm of fearing of what may happen.  This type of government system shows similar characteristics of dictatorship or communism coming into power.

The way the pigs advanced their way to the top of the government system by telling the animals of the farm that they were smart and would handle all of the situations that dealt with brain power.  From the beginning of when the pigs established the animal farm the neglected to keep their promises to the animals of the farm. First they slowly changed many of the seven commandments that they started out with, so that they would bend in the favor of the pigs and dogs.  But this is not how Old Major wanted the new system of control to work; Old Major wanted the new system to gain independence for all animals alike.  But the power and green became too much for the animals in charge and they soon began to abuse their power and mistreat all of the animals below them.  Such has when they promised plenty to eat for animals and easier work days. They soon turned around on the animals and actually cut down food rations and increased the work load that the animals had to do.

Napoleon and his cabinet of other pigs and dogs had ways of making the animals work harder and more with a purpose.  Such as when the windmill had been destroyed the pigs convinced the animals of the farm that Snowball had come back to seek revenge on the farm, when really it was only the storm the night before.  But this is just another way of how the pigs used their position of power to manipulate the animals of the farm to work in the favor of the pigs.

 Towards the end of the book you could start to tell that the animals of the farm had like rights/ independence that Old Major had mentioned at the beginning of the book.  But just the opposite; the animals received less food, harder work, and less independence than ever.  This only prove to show that the power of the animals was in the pigs hands, by the end of the book pigs were disobeying all of the previous seven commandments that had original been proposed before all of the amendments that occurred to them. In the end the pigs were walking on two feet, had the sheep chanting in the farm "four legs good two legs better", had established a great working relationship with the local farmers, and the animals could not tell the difference the humans and the pigs playing cards in the house formerly owned by Mr. Jones.

The class system was simply humans and animals, but by the end of the book there was animals in the social class with humans. The performances by the animals who served the pigs and dogs deserved the reward, while the pigs and dogs deserved nothing because they had destroyed the animal’s already terrible lives. But in the end the pigs were rewarded for manipulating the animals of Mr. Jones's farm. By the end of the book the "Animal Farm" never reached a healthy balance between powers. All the book showed was how power can only be tolerated for so long before another power comes along to over throw it, but makes same mistakes and creating a greed hungry government all over again. The cycle will never end until people get rid of all greed that they have for power.

Poverty in the United States

Things that can be done to help fight the poverty are hard work and good work ethics.  I believe that any person can better themselves with these two traits to help themselves to get above the poverty line.

The function of the social class structure is to show who has more power and who is better off.  Conflicts that are naturally caused when you have social class structures, is that people who have more than other tend to believe that they are better than the ones they are above.  The symbols that we tend to associate with social class structure are that if you have little to no assets that you are poor and do not have much power.  But vice versa if you tend to have huge sum of assets and wealth people tend to look at you as a person who has a lot of power and class.  To change the social class structure it would take that we change the coming generation of kids differently on how to treat people below or above them.  Because right now it would almost be impossible to change people who have lived most of their lives this way of looking at people differently because of the class.

Things that my family and I have in our lives that helps shows what class we belong to would have to be our vehicles, clothing, and personal affects that we have throughout our household.  I believe that the things we own does determine what class we belong to because that all the class system is composed of, people who have more or less than others.  The vehicle I have is a 2002 Silverado 1500, it isn't he nicest vehicle around but nor is it the worst.  The reason why I have this vehicle is because it was something practical that my mom thought for me to drive.

 Generally in high school social class actually causes students to separate one another in to different groups and not to socialize with other groups.  High school prepares you for somewhat of how your life might play out, because the fact is that it is very hard to change a social class, so you tend to be stuck in that class for a majority of your live.  If you come from a poor family it is almost most likely you will either not graduate high school or not succeed on past high school for further education.  The affects from moving up or down a class will affect your live dramatically because of the simple fact you either will have less income and have to make budget cuts or you will have some new found money that you have never had before.  The tougher way of the two changes to one’s income would have to be from rich to poor because you will have to make dramatic changes in how you spend your money on and what the difference between wants and needs are.  It may cause some bumps throughout ones relationship just because of the fact that you are from two different social classes and maybe brought up differently to act towards one another.

 In the fact that Tammy and her children had dreams such as becoming a elementary teacher, lawyer, and architect.  But these dreams would become difficult, nearly impossible for them since the drive for success was just not there and there are stuck in the lower level of poverty.  The chances that the son of becoming successful are very slim because of the simple fact that it is very difficult to move up classes when you start off so low.

The reasoning behind why a member of the armed forces of United States gets paid less than someone who participates in professional sports is because of the way the money falls.  I mean by that in the area of entertainment there is a lot of money to be made will in the military there is no main income generated from it.  Thus the reason why soldiers get paid less the those who are in professional sports.

 

 

"create your own luck"

I believe in the fact that a man/woman makes their own luck with what they are handed in life.  Along with saying that I also believe in the functionalist theory and conflict theory.  I believe that you can't have a functionalist society without having some conflict because of the simple reason that you can not have a perfect society. 
People that create there own luck means people how take what they are dealt in life and make the best they can of it. Even through many challenging moments and adversity throughout their lives. So yes I believe very strongly that people create their own luck and anyone can make a bad life into a good life but vis versa, people with good lives can also turn it around with a bad decision.

Heroin

Requiem for a Dream is about how heroin affects people’s lives from different standings.  Like how it could divide up a couple, bring a single man to his knees, and drive a sane elderly woman insane.  All of these people were victims of the addiction to the narcotic heroin, which did not just create an addiction for them but caused their lives to almost absolutely nothing. The movie gives a great view of how drugs can actually turn one’s life completely upside down.
Harry and Marion was a couple that shared a love that was torn apart because of heroin. Although they loved one another the drug was too strong for them, causing Harry to trying to go Miami to get his hand on Heroin to distribute and also for his own use.  But Harry and Tyrone were in for a rude awaking when they had gone to a hospital and got into trouble with the law and they both were taking into custody.
While Harry, Tyrone and, Marion were struggling to get drugs Harry's mother Sara was unknowingly getting addicted to "uppers" which is drugs that are prescribed from a doctor a patient gets addicted.  With Sara it was all just about getting skinny for a game show she was supposedly getting onto.  But it only drove her to keep taking the drugs to lose enough weight to fit into a dress she wore to Harry's high school graduation many years ago.  That is all it took for her to get addicted to a drug that pushed her to go out of her way of regular life and get addicted to drugs.
When it comes to Harry, he should of reacted to the fact that he knew his mother was using uppers and get her help before she abused them more.  Harry could have saved his mother’s life from a mental asylum and maybe even saved his own life and prevent the loss of his arm.
From this movie I will never allow myself to use drugs and help any loved ones around me from using the drugs.  If they already use I will do as much as I can to help them get professional help.

 

 

Drug Inc.

Help against drug use by providing clean needles, teaching how to use, and providing Naloxone which helps reverse the effects of heroin overdose.  These are the first steps the United States government should take to help fight the war against drugs worldwide.  Because there are many other countries that have started groups/agencies that provide clean needles and Naloxone.  And for the United States to get a good start to the fight against drugs they first must help the people that suffer from this disease of addiction.  After these steps are established then we can proceed to further the fight against drug use.  But before we can go after all of these drug lords and distributors' we must lower the fatality rate from people who suffer the effects of addiction from heroin.  There are some groups that are out there in the United States that are trying to push for the U.S. government to give them federal aid.  Because of the fact that state level government has hardly even made it legal for people to offer help to these people addicted to heroin.  When these groups/agencies really need help to fight this ever growing war against heroin use and other drug use alike.

Trashed

This article is about heroin use in St. Charles where a community neglects to acknowledge the fact that it is becoming a serious problem for them.  This is a serious issue that needs to be taken very serious because this spike in heroin use in the community has already taken several teenagers lives.  But a reason why the community refuses to come to terms with this situation is beyond reasoning because there is no reason for people to neglect to react to solve this problem.  Anywhere teens try to revert attention of heroin use in the white community by placing the white teen that had ODed on heroin, by placing the kid into a black neighborhood trying to avoid any attention that the situation drew.  What kind of community raises kids that are so scared of a tarnished reputation of their community.  This situation is an example of how where media has brainwashed kids to think that poor black neighborhoods are a prime area for drug use.  We need to change this terrible cycle that causes many people to believe stereotypes that are hardly true.  This terrible cycle has caused many conflicts between people causing a division between two parts of the communities.

 

Violence

This article talks about how many different things we do and things we use affect human nature for violence.  Like how X-box games can actually help transfer negative energy that would fuel anger on the streets like gang violence and domestic violence.  With a way to channel all of your anger and curiosity towards video games on the Xbox children/ young adults stay away from crime.
Another statistic that proves to show lower crime rates in cities is the destruction of housing projects.  The reasoning's behind this is because it takes the group of people from a small concentration of people in an area where they can cause many conflicts.
In this article it also says that leaded products such as gas, paint, and heavy metal can cause lower IQ's.  These have been linked to lower IQ levels for a long time for children that have been exposed to heavily leaded products for a long period of their lives.  So with taking out all of this lead out of these products they have proven that it helps lower crime rates and higher IQ's amongst the population.
The article also talks about how immigration actually helps build family structure in the United States.  Because it is found that families that come to the United States have strong ties in their family creating a strong family and making for a happier family.  This actually helps lower the crime rate in the United States because a person from a strong family bond is more likely to stay away from crime affiliated things and tend to stay in school.
In the article it has a section call "Home Bodies" that says during the Great Recession of 2008 police and researchers waited to see if there would be a spike in violent, but were only amazed to find there really wasn't. Because people found themselves staying at home because they had no where to go cause they had no job.

Deviance

In everyone's everyday life consist of deviance whether they are positive or negative.  Many people preform deviant acts or behaviors without even knowing because deviant behaviors or acts have changed from generation to generation. Reason for this is because for every generation certain deviant behaviors have been accepted in society or not accepted in society.  But even in our generation there are different deviant acts and behaviors because each one person is different because different communities accept and reject certain deviancy.
In an example/experiment I held a door for another student who was quite a few years younger than me. With this example I found out that we were both raised differently because while I held the door she did not thank me.  This result might of happened because of the fact that where if someone holds the door it is a common courtesy, so she probably was raised that she didn't need to thank me for it. But when/where I was raised I was taught to always hold the door and thank people that hold the door for you.  So that just proves deviant behaviors can vary from where a person is raised and how they were taught to act within a society/ community.
