Rape Culture

At this time and point in our generation we have a rapidly climbing, reoccurring event that is called rape culture.  Rape culture is a new thing in our era where rape is almost perceived to be an okay thing and is looked past in many ways.  The definition of rape is the penetration of any sorts, no consent, and where a person forcing themselves upon someone else.  But now days people have redefined rape to only a different stature and for this we have to point the finger at multimedia and advertisement. Reason for this is because the people the run these things have almost said that these things are okay in todays’ culture.  A lot of music today has a hint of rape culture in it, but to hear it you must not listen to the music but the lyrics of the music.  This music is usually heard by many different sections of ages but primarily targeted at old teenagers and young adults.  But this does not mean rape is isolated to only one age group it stretches across many age groups.  To fix this problem the people must find the root of the problem and terminate it because, even if you stop it for one generation the problem will only just return only in a different form.  The most likely roots of the problem are in music and video producers. These people produce a sense of masculinity to the male audience and give off message through both music and videos that it is okay to belittle women around them.  When in fact that it is not okay to do so, because if the youth believes that these action are okay then it will only start a pandemic for generation to come.  To prevent all of these to continue we must stop all media and etc. that promotes rape culture.

Who Am I pt2

My parents have been a major part of the structure of my life.  They have molded the way I have viewed on many different ideas. Such as how I treat the people around me and who I encounter throughout my life.

The heredity part that I received from my parents was quiet diverse. From my mother I received from was many different European heritage, such as Irish, German, and little bit of Russian. I didn't receive many physical features from my mother, but from my father I received many different physical features. Such as skin color, hair type/color, facial features, and athletic ability.

The cultural Environment of my life has helped mold the personality that I have today. Such as the fact that I'm pretty outgoing, easy to get along with, talkative, and competitive.  The reason for most of these personalities is because of the many siblings I have and how we interacted with one another.

When it comes to birth order I am a middle child who was treated as such.  Throughout my childhood I have had to prove myself through most activities because I did not receive attention as much as the oldest or the youngest. But this has proven to help me become the person today and how I take on many situations.

All of these things have shaped the was I am today but the one that has really shaped me an individual has to be the Cultural Environment, because of the fact that the environment is the major factor that shapes who I am as a person.

Birth Order

I do believe that birth order effects who you become as a person. Also I believe that the baby of the family is treated nicer compared to maybe the first born. The birth order does effect how the parents treat their kids because the first born is more or less trial and error. While with the youngest child the parents will use what they have learned from the first born to help ready the child in there childhood. This could cause sibling rivalry amongst each other "Sibling rivalry and the constant bickering and fighting that it sparks can drive parents crazy". But on the other hand many middle children don't get much attention not caring to much about the sibling rivalry. In the end many times the birth order does effect the way children are treated by parents in their childhood and how they act when they grow up as adults.

Effects on our lives

Media effects a major part of all of our lives because it is everywhere now days. You can't go anywhere without running into advertisements or social media. Although media can spread a thought fast it can also cause many of us to become narrow-minded and get caught up in mainstream media, making people only maybe see a topic in one perspective. Family is a huge part of the way we are today because they are the people that we are raised around for a critical part of a person life. Friends are sometimes a good thing but also can become a bad thing because they can give us a negative perspective. Negative perspective causing people needing to surround themselves with positive friends. Religion has an effect on how we view many topics of present day. An education is a massive part of who we become, because with the right education we can become the most successful people but without we may become bums.

Tuesdays With Morrie

Many Americans are afraid of love but they do love one another just afraid to show it. Because of the times we live an age of masculinity where love is a very awkward topic for many people to talk on let alone act upon these feelings. The values in our culture that make us afraid of love is like tough guy act, shyness, and afraid to act on the feelings we have for one another.  As a generation that can overcome masculinity and embrace the feeling of love and other taboo feelings. The difference between romantic love and real love is that romantic love doesn't always last but real love will always be there.
You can tell that Mitch values hard work at the beginning of the move but later starts to value love and life more. When it comes to my family when value love more than hard work.  It started before I had started going to high school it was taught at a young age. I believe that many American are afraid of death because they can't handle a loss. I do believe that our feelings towards death does have to do with individualism because we do not want to feel the pain of loss of a loved one.

What's Next? Masculinity

Many injuries can happen while participating in MMA fights, some not showing symptoms tell after their careers. Such as brain trauma from repetitive hits to the head, maybe not all of the hits were concussion blows but after so many hits to the head the brain moves so much. This causing many of your brain cells to die and causes you to slow down in certain parts of your everyday life such as speech, body mobility, and processing speed of your brain.
MMA is a direct result of masculinity of many decades of growing and evolving into a more violent act of masculinity from WWE (WWF.) In MMA there is more injuries inquired because like in boxing the fighting is actually real there is no faking, unlike in the WWE where everything was faked and staged. The worry that comes with masculinity is when is enough, enough because that fact is how close can you get to death because your cross the line and lose your life. Even today many people get hurt leading to career ending injuries and even injuries leading to death. So in the future I don't know what to perceive the next level of masculinity to reach but it can't be health for any of the partakers that get involved in these acts of violence.

My American Values

In my life I have many different values that support the way that I live my life. One of my values is always do something useful with the time you are given, because no one is guaranteed tomorrow this value would fall under "Practicality and Efficiency". Another value I have is not to take everything in live so seriously because you cant fret over every little small things, this would be considered TIME AND ITS CONTROL. Also keep good work ethics with any job/career that I hold in the future and today, reason that supports this value is FUTURE ORIENTATION. Another value that I have is friendship, because is without friendship you will be lonely and no one wants to be lonely this value would fall under DIRECTNESS, OPENNESS AND HONESTY. Another great value I believe that I have is MATERIALISM/ACQUISITIVENESS, reason for this is because I cherish material things. .These are just some of the few values that I live my life by to keep myself content and happy.

Card Game

If I could describe the card game that we played during sociology I would have to say confusing. After I learned the rules I thought that it would be an easy game to win depending on the cards I had been dealt. I realized something had been wrong after the first time we switched groups because we had different idea of what the trump card was in the game. I argued that my rules were right and everyone in the group followed. My body language reflected my feelings which was frustrated. Yes, because it represents the struggle in communications between cultures and rules that ones may have. Yes an universal language is necessary for world peace. A simple card game can teach us how to compromise between two different set of rules "cultures".

100% American

I don't believe that there will ever really be an American culture, an American culture now days is what anyone individual wants it to be. For an example one day I could study Muslim religion and then the next day study Christianity. Also in America we are considered to be the melting pot of the world, because of the fact that in our Constitution we can practice any culture whichever one you choose to do. If you were to go through your everyday activities you'd find out that many of the things you do are found from many different cultures. Such as foods, clothing, religion, ect. Foods are a major culture diffusion of United States. Such as Mexican, Chinese, Mongolian, and Italian. Also there is many religions throughout the United States that such as Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Celtic Pagan, Buddhism, and Hinduism. In the future I do not see the United States creating its own culture and ways. The reason for the is because United States takes in some many different cultures and we as the people in the United States just adapt new culture differences and make them our own. The definition of an American culture would be the fact that we use everyone else's culture as our own and claim them as ours.

Abandon Ship

In the United States we value what people are capable of doing and their skills. The values that I have reflect on the people I picked to stay on the boat. I believe that many other cultures would make the same decisions I had made because of the circumstances that I was in. Values are established by what they are capable of. People who surround you and the environment you are surrounded by.

I believe that cursive is becoming a dead handwriting style. It is not just cursive that is dying it is also the fact that a lot of the things these days are typed over keyboards and cellphones. But I do believe that cursive should still be taught to the younger generation because of the fact some people still write in cursive and that many of the historical documents of the United States is written in cursive and not teaching the youth cursive would make it next to impossible to read.
The watch is a great invention that helps people with keeping up with apps. Also it may push us away from many of our older ways.

Individualistic or dependent

I believe that in certain situations that we as people can be either very dependent on one another and also be very individualistic. It just depends on what situation we find ourselves in and if we need help to preserver through a traumatic event. But naturally I believe most humans are dependent on one another.

Freaks and Geeks

Recently I have watched the pilot episode for the show "Freaks and Geeks". During the show I have seen many different examples of funtionalist, conflict, and interactionist perspectives. For the funtionalist perspective an example would be that when Sam and his friends Neal and Bill got together to fight Alan. This example would also fall under the conflict perspective because of the fact that the geeks and fights for control over Alan White. For an interactionist perspective an example would be the way Harold says if his kids do wrong it always results in fatal consequences.
Alan White has power over the geeks but soon loses it to Sam's sister Lindsay when she caught him picking on Sam, Bill, and Neal. Alan White had the power because he always could over power the geeks. Alan used it to make the geeks bend to his will. There are three main groups in the series "Freaks and Geeks". One of them is the geeks that consist of Sam, Bill, and Neal. Another group that is in the series is the Freaks that consists of, Daniel, Nick, Ken, and Kim.

I am a energetic and fun to be around guy, always making jokes. Always staying busy with athletics in the school and working in the summer. What makes me who I am is the people that are around me and the things they do around me. Some of the biggest influences around me sports, parents, school, and the jobs that I have had throughout my life. My goals for my life are to finish high school, graduate college, and obtain and career in the field I enter.
